In its ongoing commitment to make life better for families and create a bright future for young people, the Government of Saskatchewan has recently invested more than $60 million for capital projects in the Parkland Central Region."Through the hard work of the people of this province, Saskatchewan's economy is booming like never before and residents in the Parkland Central area are benefiting directly from these efforts," Learning Minister Deb Higgins said during a visit to Prince Albert. "We have been able to provide funding for a variety of capital projects that will enhance the quality of life for people living in the area, improve upon the business climate and give people even more reason to live, work and build their future in Saskatchewan."
Projects that have received funding include $18.2 million to twin a portion of Highway 11; $168,000 for improvements to schools in the area; $117,000 to improve diagnostic health equipment for the Kelsey Trail Health District and $1.18 million for affordable housing projects on the One Arrow First Nation. In addition, the government has invested extensively in water and sewage systems in the area, as well as digital cellular and wireless service.
"Our government's investment in these important developments will enhance the vibrancy of the communities in this area," Higgins said. "This year's infrastructure budget is the largest ever. By investing in our highways, cultural and recreational facilities, health care systems and municipal infrastructure, we are ensuring that communities province-wide are in a position to capitalize on the many opportunities being created by Saskatchewan's growing economy."
