GOVERNMENT PREPARED TO MEET

Released on January 29, 2007

As announced on Friday, January 26, the Government has accepted Mediator Vince Ready’s recommendations in their entirety as the basis for a final resolution to the current public service labour dispute.

In response to the request today from the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU), the Government has advised the SGEU that its negotiators are willing to meet immediately to discuss Ready’s recommendations and to engage Ready in this process as necessary to provide any clarification the union may require in order to facilitate their decision.

No further comment is planned at this time.
