MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN AIR RONGE

Released on August 23, 2007

Four families in Air Ronge will be able to live in quality, affordable housing with the official opening today of a four-unit rental housing project in that community.

The project was made possible by $295,000 in funding from the Government of Saskatchewan.

"The creation of more quality, affordable housing is one of the ways we are building a better future for the people of northern Saskatchewan," Community Resources Minister Kevin Yates said. "The vision of HomeFirst, our provincial housing strategy, is that all citizens have homes that promote health, dignity, security and independence, and that enhance the social and economic well-being of our communities."

The project involved the acquisition and renovation of a four-unit housing complex in Air Ronge. Each suite has two bedrooms.

The completion of this project enhances the housing portfolio managed by the La Ronge Regional Housing Authority, increasing its ability to provide communities such as Air Ronge with quality, affordable rental housing. The Authority now manages 163 housing units on behalf of the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation in the region.
