NEW LOOK FOR SRC’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Released on August 20, 2007

The Board of Directors for the Saskatchewan Research Council has a new look as a Chair, Vice-Chair and three new members are appointed.

After several months as the Acting Chair, Craig Zawada, a six-year member of the Board and lawyer with Wallace Meschishnick Clackson Zawada, was appointed to the position of Chair. Doug Kelln, a seven-year member of the Board and President of SaskEnergy, was appointed to the position of Vice-Chair.

Three new members have been added to the Board to replace Keith Hanson, Mike Monea and Larry Cooper, who resigned from the Board at various times near the end of last year due to other commitments. The new members are Dr. Lee Wilson, Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan; Katherine Palidwar, owner and manager of Northern Greens Resort in Nipawin and Shelley Lipon, Executive Regional Director for the Midwest/Northern Region at Canada Health Infoway.

"It's important that SRC's Board of Directors has a diverse range of skills and experiences that will help SRC to build the foundation for continued economic growth in our province," Minister Responsible for SRC Maynard Sonntag said. "The new members will bring a fresh perspective and make an already strong Board even stronger. They will be a real asset to SRC and the important work it does on behalf of Saskatchewan people."

The Board changes are part of SRC's ongoing renewal process. Biographical information on the new members, as well as the other Board members, can be found on SRC's website (www.src.sk.ca).
