The Government of Saskatchewan is investing an estimated $642,000 to improve 10 schools in Regina and the surrounding area.
“Support for these school improvement projects demonstrate our continued commitment to work with school divisions to provide healthy, comfortable and well equipped learning environments for Saskatchewan students,” Learning Minister Deb Higgins said. “We are investing in schools, in students and in the future of Saskatchewan.”
The capital improvement projects include:
- $291,000 to the Regina Roman Catholic School division to improve accessibility at the École St. Andrew in Regina;
- $158,000 to the Regina School Division for roofing upgrades and to improve accessibility at Campbell Collegiate in Regina;
- $125,000 to the Prairie Valley School Division for roofing upgrades at the White City Elementary School in White City;
- $124,000 to the Regina School Division to upgrade roofing at Robert Usher Collegiate in Regina;
- $120,000 to the Regina Roman Catholic School Division to improve accessibility at the Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School in Regina;
- $59,000 to the Regina School Division to upgrade roofing at Sheldon Williams Collegiate in Regina;
- $28,000 to the division scolaire francophone for the addition of a relocatable space for the École Monseigneur de Laval in Regina;
- $14,000 to the Regina School Division to improve accessibility at the Dr. George Ferguson School in Regina; and
- $14,000 to the Regina School Division to improve accessibility at the Imperial Community School in Regina.
The projects announced today are part of the Government of Saskatchewan’s investment of approximately $6 million to improve the learning environment in 40 Saskatchewan schools. These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, mechanical system upgrades, renovations, additions and portable classrooms, as well as preliminary planning funding. Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province.
“These school improvement projects are part of the government’s commitment to make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures,” Higgins said.
