STUDENT AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS LESTER B. PEARSON SCHOLARSHIP

Released on April 26, 2007

A Saskatchewan student has been awarded a full scholarship to attend the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Program at Lester B. Pearson United World College in British Columbia.

Adam Harding from Humboldt Collegiate Institute in Humboldt has received the annual provincial scholarship and will begin the two-year program this fall.  The scholarship, jointly sponsored by the college and Saskatchewan Learning, is worth over $60,000.

“The International Baccalaureate Program at Lester B. Pearson College is an exceptional program that gives students the opportunity to excel academically, meet students and teachers from around the world, and promote international understanding and co-operation,” Learning Minister Deb Higgins said.  “These exemplary students will be ambassadors for our province during their term at the college and will bring the benefit of that experience home to Saskatchewan.”

Adam will join last year’s recipient, Susanna Klassen from Dr. Martin LeBoldus Collegiate in Regina.

Pearson College is one of ten United World Colleges established throughout the world.  Located near Victoria, British Columbia, the college creates a dynamic international community where 200 young people from 88 countries live, study and serve the community together.  All students attend on full scholarship.
