GRAND OPENING CELEBRATED AT HERBERT HEALTH FACILITY

Released on September 28, 2006

The people of Herbert celebrated the official opening of their local integrated health complex today.

Environment Minister John Nilson on behalf of Health Minister Len Taylor today unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility.

"You should be proud of the legacy that has been created for your community," Nilson said. "It is through the commitment of Cypress Health Region and the people of Herbert and surrounding areas that a sustainable solution to this community's health care needs has become a reality."

"The health region looks forward to the long term health care benefits that this integrated facility will provide for the residents of Herbert, Morse and surrounding areas," Cypress Regional Health Authority Vice-chairperson Ron Heeg said. "We are appreciative of the positive relationship that we have had with the Advisory Committee and the communities during the planning of this new health complex."

The facility houses acute care services, home care, community health services and long-term care for residents under one roof.
