PREMIER'S AWARD PRESENTED TO PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYEES

Released on October 4, 2006

Premier Lorne Calvert presented the Premier's Award for Excellence in the Public Service to recipients today.

"Each year we honour a group of dedicated individuals that serve the people of this province with distinction," Calvert said. "Their contributions have helped to make Saskatchewan the best place to live, work and raise a family."

The Premier's Award for Excellence recognizes public service employees in three categories: Innovation, Quality Service and Leadership.

Employees or teams from government departments, most Treasury Board Crown Corporations, boards, commissions and agencies were eligible for nomination by the public service, stakeholder organizations, clients and the public. This year, nominations were received from 19 departments and agencies.

The individual recipients are:

• René Archambault – Learning – in the category of Leadership

• Ross Lynd – Culture, Youth and Recreation – in the category of Quality Service

The team recipients are:

• Cumberland House Disaster Response Team – Corrections and Public Safety – in the category of Quality Service

• Saskatchewan Surgical Care Initiatives Team – Health – in the category of Quality Service

• TCM 8000 (Transverse Crackfilling Team) – Highways and Transportation – in the category of Innovation

• Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods – Justice – in the category of Innovation

An independent selection panel reviewed the nominations and selected the recipients.
