NEW MEMBER NAMED TO MAMAWETAN CHURCHILL RIVER REGIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITY

Saskatchewan Health Minister Len Taylor today announced the appointment of Josie Searson of La Ronge to the Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority.

"I am pleased to fill the health authority vacancy with someone who has a proven track record of community involvement," Taylor said. "Josie Searson will be an asset to the health authority in its work of improving the health of people in the region."

"We welcome this appointment," Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority chairperson Al Rivard said. "With Josie's extensive experience, we know she will make a valuable contribution to our health region."

Searson is a member of the Saskatchewan Education Advisory Committee on provincial curriculum and the K-5 English Language Arts Development Committee. She has worked as an aboriginal education consultant for the Northern Lights School Division and as a pilot teacher for the English Language Arts K-5. Her community involvement includes the Native Women's Organization, Northern Teacher Education Program (NORTEP) Anniversary Planning Committee, Gideon Ladies Auxiliary, Elders' Project, Saskatchewan Education Northern Division and Aglow International of Canada.

The appointment is in effect until July 2008. The province's health authorities are responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of health services within each of 12 health regions.
