BY-ELECTION IN WEYBURN-BIG MUDDY

Released on May 19, 2006

Voters in the constituency of Weyburn-Big Muddy will be going to the polls on Monday, June 19th, 2006.

Premier Lorne Calvert called the by-election today. The riding became vacant with the sudden resignation of Brenda Bakken-Lackey last winter.

"I am calling this by-election now so constituents in Weyburn-Big Muddy can have a MLA in place before the summer," Calvert said.

Calvert said the by-election campaign is an opportunity for the government to discuss both its track record and its plan of building a future right here for Saskatchewan people.
