SASKATCHEWAN PEOPLE INVITED TO WELCOME GOVERNOR GENERAL

Premier Lorne Calvert invites all Saskatchewan people to welcome Canada's Governor General on her first visit to the province at a special ceremony at the Legislative Building in Regina.

Their Excellencies, the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond will travel to Regina, Qu'Appelle and Fort Qu'Appelle from May 8th-10th, 2006.

"I am pleased that Her Excellency is visiting Saskatchewan," Calvert said. "I know that the people of this province have a deep respect for the Governor General and will greet her warmly."

The Governor General will receive an official welcome to the province by the Lieutenant Governor and the Premier at the Legislative Building on May 8th at 12:30 p.m. Following the welcome, Their Excellencies will do a walkabout and have an opportunity to interact with the public.

"I encourage all Saskatchewan people to come out and join us in welcoming the Governor General," Calvert said.
