KEEWATIN YATTHÉ REGIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITY APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

Health Minister Len Taylor today announced the reappointment of nine members of the Keewatin Yatthé Regional Health Authority to a second three-year term, and the appointment of two new members.

"The health authority members have served the community well since the creation of regional health authorities in 2002," Taylor said. "I am pleased that we can call upon them for three more years of service."

Duane Favel, of Ile-a-la-Crosse, has been appointed to the health authority and will serve as Vice-chair. Research director for the Northwest Saskatchewan Métis Council, Favel has been involved in the community and served on the Aboriginal Advisory Committee for the Saskatchewan Arts Board. Buffalo Narrows business owner Arthur Daigneault is newly appointed to the health authority. He has served on a number of local boards, and is actively involved in the community.

· Lester Herman, La Loche
· John Janvier, La Loche
· Stella Laliberte, Beauval
· Annette Montgrand, La Loche
· Dorah Montgrande, Dillon
· Yvette-Marie Morin, Ile-a-la-Crosse
· Tina L. Rasmussen (nee Anderson), Green Lake

Taylor also thanked former member Ross McLeod and paid tribute to the late Rose Daigneault for their years of service to the health authority.

"I look forward to working with the reappointed members and the two new health authority members to make continued improvements to health care in this region," chair David Seright said.

The appointments are in effect until July 2008. The authority is responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of health services within the health region.

A single vacancy will be filled in the coming months. Residents interested in putting their names forward for the regional health authority should contact Saskatchewan Health.
