FAMILY FUN PART OF LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR'S JULY 29TH FAREWELL

Released on July 26, 2006

The public is invited to bid farewell and show their appreciation to Saskatchewan's departing Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Lynda Haverstock, during an afternoon of family fun on the grounds of Government House in Regina on July 29th, from 1-4 p.m. The afternoon will include a line-up of Saskatchewan entertainers, face-painting and refreshments.

The informal nature of the farewell will give people the chance to express their gratitude to Her Honour personally. Everyone is welcome, and should feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.

"The event at Government House is a very fitting way to thank our Lieutenant Governor for her tireless efforts in promoting and celebrating the people and talents of this province," Premier Lorne Calvert said. "It is a testament to the warm and outgoing nature that she has displayed during her six years in office that she would want a farewell that allows her to meet and greet as many members of the public as possible. I encourage everyone to attend."

The following is the itinerary for the afternoon (all times approximate):

• 1:00 p.m. Lieutenant Governor, Premier Calvert and Mrs. Calvert circulate, greeting guests;

• 2:00 p.m. Formal program on stage, including remarks from dignitaries, a gift presentation from the Premier, and an address from Her Honour;

• 2:20 p.m. Entertainment program begins, with performances from Theresa Sokyrka, Rory Allen, Jeff Sawatzky, Ben Beveridge, Saskatchewan Express, Pat Steele and Peter Dyksman.

The program will be covered live on SCN with Access Communications producing the televised production in partnership with CBC.

Dr. Haverstock has served as Saskatchewan's 19th Lieutenant Governor since 2001.
