NEW APPOINTMENTS TO CYPRESS REGIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITY

Released on July 10, 2006

Health Minister Len Taylor today announced the appointment of two new members to the Cypress Regional Health Authority.

Joining the decision-making body are Prelate Mayor Jeannine Schmaltz and retired teacher Louise Walker of Swift Current. Existing health authority member Ronald Heeg of Swift Current, has been named vice-chair. He replaces several interim vice-chairs who have served since Allan MacArthur resigned from the health authority in December 2005.

"The province's health authorities continue to attract members with a wide range of experience and skills," Taylor said. "These two new members bring experience on health boards, community service and their chosen fields."

"We look forward to the addition of two new members to our governance board," Cypress Regional Health Authority chair Dennis Lafreniere said. "Their skills and experience will be an asset to our existing membership and the additional members will bring two new positive perspectives to our board table."

One seat on the health authority remains to be filled. The appointments are in effect until July 2008. The province's health authorities are responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of health services within each of the 12 health regions.
