CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM PREMIER LORNE CALVERT

Released on December 7, 2006

Across Saskatchewan and around the world, families are gathering to celebrate the holidays. This special time of year inspires in us the noblest thoughts – of peace on earth and good will toward our neighbour.

It's a special time for family and friends – a time to take a break from our labours and celebrate the season with co-workers.

With pageants and concerts at schools and churches, it's a time for our children and grandchildren to play and sing and a time for us to beam with pride.

It's a time when even the simplest greetings are exchanged with real sincerity and best wishes.

It's a time to reflect on the great good fortune of living in a land blessed by peace and prosperity – and a time to keep those who can't be home for the holidays, like our men and women in uniform, close to our hearts.

As we reflect on the true and eternal spirit of the season, we strive to make the holidays a time of celebration for all, especially those less fortunate than ourselves.

Saskatchewan people have always demonstrated the Christmas spirit of giving and goodwill year round.

From the warmth of our people and the closeness of our communities and neighbourhoods to the beauty of our winter landscape, there is no better place than Saskatchewan to be home for the holidays.

Together with our family, my wife Betty and I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year.
