CONSUMER PROTECTION ALERT – AGRICULTURAL SERVICES CANADA

Released on April 26, 2006

The Consumer Protection Branch of Saskatchewan Justice is alerting farmers about receiving telephone calls from a company called Agricultural Services Canada offering an opportunity to save money on their input costs.

Agricultural Services Canada is not licensed and bonded under The Direct Sellers Act in Saskatchewan to make these direct sales calls. Those making any purchase will not be properly protected and are at financial risk.

Agricultural Services Canada is representing itself as a member organization that, by joining, can save farmers money on their purchase of such inputs as fertilizer, oil and fuel. The Consumer Protection Branch has been advised by Agrium Inc., one of the suppliers being mentioned, that it does not have any agreement with Agricultural Services Canada to provide product.

Any individuals receiving calls from Agricultural Services Canada are asked to contact the Consumer Protection Branch in Regina, toll-free at 1-888-374-4636.
