UPGRADING FIVE NORTH BATTLEFORD/LLOYDMINSTER AREA SCHOOLS

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $655,000 to improve five schools in the North Battleford/Lloyminster area.

"The future of our province will be defined by young people," Learning Minister Deb Higgins said. "We need to access every advantage our society and economy can provide to ensure that they achieve excellence in our education system. Investing in our schools will go a long way toward helping students reach their potential."

The capital projects include:

• The North West Separate School Division will receive approximately $87,000 for a roof replacement at John Paul II Collegiate in North Battleford;

• The North West Separate School Division will receive approximately $166,000 for the construction of a relocatable classroom at École Monseigneur Blaise Morand School in North Battleford;

• The Living Sky School Division will receive approximately $197,000 for the construction of a Special Needs area at North Battleford Comprehensive High School;

• The Lloydminster School Division will receive approximately $49,000 for the construction of a relocatable classroom at Martin Browne School in Lloydminister; and

• The Northwest School Division will receive approximately $156,000 for a roof replacement at Ernie Studer School in Loon Lake.

These projects will be cost-shared with the school divisions listed above.

The projects are part of the provincial government's investment of $7 million to improve the learning environment in 55 Saskatchewan schools. With these projects, the total commitment by government to K-12 capital projects this fiscal year is $22 million.

"These projects demonstrate our continued commitment to working with school divisions to improve the learning environment in Saskatchewan schools," Higgins said. "They will provide enhanced learning opportunities through high quality programs and services in modern well-equipped facilities."
