SCN DONATES LEGACY OF CENTENNIAL PROGRAMMING TO PUBLIC ARCHIVES

SCN today transferred its legacy of centennial programming to the Saskatchewan Archives Board. Developed in co-operation with Saskatchewan independent producers, SCN's Centennial Legacy Programming reflects the history and culture of people and places across the province, and will now be preserved and available to the public into the future.

"SCN has admirably filled the role of Saskatchewan's centennial storyteller, working with independent producers to create series and specials that celebrate our history, our culture and our peoples," Minister responsible for SCN and Saskatchewan Archives Board Joan Beatty said. "I am proud to see SCN and the Saskatchewan Archives Board - two important provincial agencies - working together to ensure Saskatchewan people, now and in the future, have access to this wonderful roster of centennial programming."

The Centennial Legacy Programming is exciting and diverse. It includes 110 hours of historical documentaries, biographies, interviews, the Lieutenant-Governor's Centennial Gala, and showcases the Centennial homecoming celebrations of more than 50 Saskatchewan communities.

"SCN's centennial programming is an invaluable addition to the Saskatchewan Archives," Provincial Archivist Trevor Powell said. "Generations of future historians will use the programming to learn about our history and culture."

SCN transferred its Centennial Legacy Programming to the Saskatchewan Archives Board during a formal presentation at Government House in Regina.

Throughout 2005, SCN has been Saskatchewan's centennial network, broadcasting commercial-free stories that celebrate our culture and connect the people of our region on cable, wireless, digital and satellite television networks.
