SASKTEL MOBILITY ANNOUNCES DIGITAL CELLULAR SERVICE IN LEOVILLE

Released on September 1, 2005

SaskTel Mobility today announced the availability of digital cellular service to Leoville and surrounding area. This digital cellular service improvement will offer better highway, town and in-building coverage to the Leoville area north of Spiritwood.

"SaskTel Mobility remains committed to expanding and improving the quality of digital cellular service in this province," Minister responsible for SaskTel Maynard Sonntag said. "This latest white area expansion is part of the ongoing $28 million expansion which brings SaskTel Mobility's total investment in digital cellular service since 1998 to $120 million."

SaskTel Mobility has the most extensive cellular network in Saskatchewan. "SaskTel Mobility understands that reliable coverage is critical for many of our customers and digital service with 1X functionality improves call clarity, enhances privacy and provides wireless customers with access to e-mail, corporate databases and the Internet," SaskTel President and CEO Robert Watson said. "We will continue to evaluate the network to provide our mobile customers with the latest wireless technologies over the largest wireless network in the province."

Digital and 1X cellular service provides advanced functionality that allows you to send and receive text messages or browse the Internet, perform banking transactions and access real-time information such as news, weather and stock quotes. Additionally, customers will have access to new services such as Push-to-Talk, which allows customers to use their cellular phone much like a walkie-talkie.
