SGI INTRODUCES NEW PAYMENT OPTION FOR AUTO FUND PRODUCTS

Released on October 26, 2005

Effective Nov. 1st, 2005, SGI is offering its customers the option of using a credit card for payment of most Auto Fund transactions.

Customers can now use their credit card to pay for annual or short-term renewals of vehicle registration and insurance, driver's licence renewals and other administrative fees. AutoPay monthly payments and International Registration Plan transactions will be excluded from the credit card option.

SGI has waited to introduce this option because of the bank fees associated with accepting credit card payments.

"A credit card payment option has been one of the most frequent requests from our customers," Minister responsible for SGI Maynard Sonntag said. "SGI is excited to be in a position to act on this request now and will continue listening and responding to our customers in the future."

SGI motor licence issuers have the choice whether or not to offer this payment option to their customers, based on what works best for their business.
