Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation (SOCO) Eric Cline today announced that Innovation Place will be undergoing another expansion of facilities."Innovation Place will construct a new facility at the research park commencing this fall," Cline said. "This development shows the province's continuing support for Innovation Place and our faith in the science and technology sector of the province. Saskatchewan's research parks are among the best in the world and this new facility will only enhance their reputation."
"The five-storey, 151,000 square foot facility, will cost approximately $25 million and be ready for occupancy in the summer of 2007," Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation President Doug Tastad said. "Several new clients have indicated their willingness to occupy space in the building and several existing clients are proposing to relocate to the building."
"We are currently 95 per cent occupied and need this facility to allow us to deal with our clients' demand for space for the next few years," Tastad added.
Innovation Place fosters knowledge clusters in fields such as agriculture, information technologies, resources and the life sciences. The park provides specialized infrastructure, including state-of-the-art facilities supported by technical and business services, to help move important discoveries into the marketplace.
