CALVERT MAKES ADJUSTMENTS TO CABINET

Released on October 14, 2005

Premier Lorne Calvert today appointed two new Cabinet Ministers and created a new portfolio of Healthy Living Services.

Eldon Lautermilch, MLA for Prince Albert Northcote becomes Minister of Highways and Transportation, as well as Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC).

Graham Addley, MLA for Saskatoon Sutherland joins the provincial cabinet as Minister of Healthy Living Services.

"I welcome Eldon and Graham to these positions," Calvert said. "Both of them will play an important role as we move forward with our government's vision for the new century."

"Mr. Lautermilch's commitment and experience are important to the work I have asked him to take on in the coming months," Calvert said. "He will build a northern roads strategy as well as focus on key transportation initiatives that assist in economic expansion and development across the province."

Lautermilch will also continue as chair of the task force examining the future of the Weyerhaeuser Pulp and Paper Mill.

Healthy Living Services will be supported by the Department of Health, with the Deputy Minister reporting to two Ministers.

"Mr. Addley will focus on implementing initiatives related to Project Hope, as well as broader files including mental health services, health promotion, active living and tobacco reduction," Calvert said. "This is clearly important work in supporting the health and well-being of Saskatchewan families and communities."
