Saskatchewan Environment Minister David Forbes will be in Ottawa this weekend to take part in the National Dialogue and Summit for Young Canadians.The Canadian Policy Research Network has invited 160 randomly chosen young Canadians and about 40 leaders from the public, community and private sectors from across the country to take part in the Summit.
The theme of the Summit is "What kind of Canada do we want? What do we and others have to do to make our vision a reality?" The Summit will focus on four broad areas young people have already identified as being important to them: the environment, work, health and learning.
"In Saskatchewan, we are already focusing on those very areas," Forbes said. "Our Green Strategy speaks to how the environment, the economy and human health rely on each other. As well, the recent Speech from the Throne talked about the value of learning and our goal of Saskatchewan leading the country in educational achievement and literacy rates. These are the ideas that I look forward to discussing with the young people at the Summit."
Forbes also said talking directly to young people can strengthen relationships and help to increase understanding of the contributions they can make and the importance of becoming involved in public life.
