Throughout Canada and 30 countries across the world, November 8th is set aside to highlight the valuable contributions that sound community and regional planning make to the quality of the human environment."The province is pleased to support Community Planning Day in Saskatchewan," Government Relations Minister Len Taylor said. "Professional planners make a valuable contribution in shaping our Saskatchewan communities."
First initiated in Argentina in 1949, November 8th has been annually and internationally celebrated as "World Town Planning Day" to promote the awareness and involvement of elected officials and the public in community and regional land use planning.
"In this provincial centennial year, our association is especially pleased to have November 8th proclaimed by the provincial government as Saskatchewan's first Community Planning Day," Association of Professional Community Planners of Saskatchewan President John Wolfenberg said.
The Association of Professional Community Planners of Saskatchewan is holding their annual conference this week in Regina. The organization that represents professional planners throughout the province is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
