CELEBRATING THE ARTS IN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on November 4, 2005

The province is celebrating Provincial Arts Week from November 13th to 20th, 2005.

"Saskatchewan artists are renowned for their talent, passion and creativity," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Joan Beatty said. "Provincial Arts Week is an opportunity for all of us to experience and celebrate these individuals and the amazing work they produce."

"In our centennial year, there has been a real buzz about the achievements of our artists and the place of the arts in our daily lives. Provincial Arts Week in Saskatchewan reminds us once again why we are so proud of the arts in our province, and how and why we can look to the future of our communities with energy, anticipation and great excitement," Saskatchewan Arts Board Executive Director Jeremy Morgan said.

"Our artists and arts organizations are at the heart of our province. They enrich and bring vitality to our lives. It is wonderful that during Arts Week, we are able to honour and recognize them, as they so richly deserve," Saskatchewan Arts Alliance Executive Director Marnie Gladwell said.

The Saskatchewan Arts Alliance and the Saskatchewan Arts Board have many exciting activities planned during Provincial Arts Week. The highlight of the week is the Lieutenant Governor's Arts Awards on Thursday, November 17th that will celebrate the accomplishments of Saskatchewan artists. A complete list of events can be found at http://www.artsboard.sk.ca/News/news_artweekmain.htm.
