SASKPOWER AND HONEYWELL PARTNER FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Released on March 10, 2005

SaskPower and Honeywell announced today the renewal of their strategic alliance for the delivery of SaskPower's Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) program.

"The EPC service is an important part of SaskPower's efforts to address the issue of climate change as part of a green and prosperous economy," Minister responsible for SaskPower Frank Quennell said. "Energy efficiency upgrades of many Saskatchewan businesses completed through the EPC program demonstrate the substantial savings and environmental benefits the program can offer to SaskPower's customers."

Part of SaskPower's Energy Solutions portfolio, the EPC program is an energy management service offered to commercial and institutional customers to assist them in reducing energy related operating costs through the implementation of energy efficient upgrades to lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

"We are pleased to continue our alliance with Honeywell for another five years," SaskPower President and CEO Pat Youzwa said. "The EPC program is just one of the ways SaskPower is balancing our commitment to provide cost-effective, reliable electricity with environmental responsibility."

"Organizations continue to turn to this innovative program to improve their facilities, and reduce energy usage and cost," Honeywell Building Solutions President Joe Puishys said. "Combined, SaskPower and Honeywell have helped address the critical issues of energy consumption and efficiency, and created more comfortable, environmentally friendly places to work and live in Saskatchewan."

SaskPower and Honeywell have provided joint EPC services since 1999. To date, 11 projects have been delivered, valued at $21 million, with associated customer utility savings of $2.3 million annually.

Honeywell is a diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Locally, Honeywell has delivered a number of multi-million dollar energy retrofit projects and maintains a number of employees in Saskatchewan to specifically serve the EPC program.
