PS ELECTRIC LTD. RECEIVES POWER OF BUSINESS AWARD

Released on February 25, 2005

A valued SaskPower supplier has been recognized. Minister responsible for SaskPower Frank Quennell, presented a Power of Business Award to PS Electric Ltd. today at the company's operations in Estevan. The firm is an electrical construction and service company doing business with SaskPower and the local oilfield sector.

"I congratulate PS Electric on its accomplishments," Quennell said. "The company's employees are both dedicated and flexible. They use their skills in a variety of situations, allowing their employer to diversify into a range of services provided in the Estevan and Wawota areas."

"It is appropriate that this company is receiving the Power of Business Award in Saskatchewan's centennial year," Quennell added. "The world could use a bit more of their positive, never-say-no attitude, a little more of their heart – and a little more Saskatchewan."

"Companies like PS Electric allow the corporation to perform the essential tasks of maintaining and improving upon its electrical generating fleet," SaskPower president and chief executive officer Pat Youzwa said. "Private-sector businesses throughout the province assist SaskPower in fulfilling its mission, to deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective electricity in an environmentally responsible manner."

PS Electric has supplied SaskPower with timely service at three of the corporation's power stations: Boundary Dam and Shand in the Estevan area; and Poplar River near Coronach.

This is the 16th Power of Business Award presented since 1999. The award to SaskPower suppliers recognizes outstanding examples of the talent, innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit required to build successful enterprises here at home.

Operating in Estevan and Wawota, PS Electric was started in 1996. It began doing work for SaskPower that year, and since 1999 it has completed approximately $2.5 million worth of work for the corporation. "It's all about your relationship with your customers and with the people you're presenting to do the work," PS Electric president Harvey King said.

SaskPower averages over 80 per cent of its purchases from local firms and over the last 22 years has purchased approximately $4.5 billion in goods and services from Saskatchewan suppliers.
