CENTENNIAL DECANTER NOW AVAILABLE IN LIQUOR STORES

Released on November 1, 2004

A limited edition decanter commemorating Saskatchewan's 100th anniversary was unveiled today in Regina.

Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) Eric Cline and Centennial Chair and Moose Jaw North MLA Glenn Hagel, unveiled the centennial decanter at SLGA's Normanview liquor store in Regina.

The ceramic decanter is a scale model of a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool wooden elevator and is filled with Royal Canadian Cellar's 10-year-old Premium Whisky. SLGA's customer service representatives can customize the decanters with a community name on three sides of the elevator at the customer's request.

"Saskatchewan's centennial is an important milestone for our province and SLGA is pleased to offer customers a commemorative keepsake," Cline said. "The grain elevator is an important symbol of Saskatchewan because it helped shape our province's history and sense of community. The decanter is sure to be a popular item during Saskatchewan's centennial year."

Hagel said the elevator decanter is a perfect fit for Saskatchewan's centennial celebrations.

"The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool wooden grain elevators that once dotted the prairie landscape represented the efforts of the farmers who formed the grain co-operative," Hagel said. "That spirit really speaks to our Centennial theme of 100 Years of Heart."

The 750ml decanters are available in SLGA's 81 liquor stores and 189 franchises for $29.95.
