SASKPOWER, PTI MARK 15 YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP WITH NEW CONTRACT

Released on May 28, 2004

SaskPower and Partner Technologies Incorporated (PTI) of Regina today marked 15 years of working together with the announcement of a new five-year renewable contract for the repair and maintenance of SaskPower transformers and other equipment. The contract is potentially worth $4.5 million in its initial term.

"For 15 years, PTI has proven to be an excellent supplier of transformers and transformer maintenance for SaskPower's distribution system, which serves the corporation's urban, rural, residential and commercial customers," Minister responsible for SaskPower Frank Quennell said. "This is a true Saskatchewan success story. PTI has been able to grow its business, based on the security and work provided via contracts with SaskPower. At the same time, SaskPower has benefited from the work of such an excellent Saskatchewan-based supplier."

"This is a great day, as we not only look back on what we have accomplished, but also look forward to where we are going," PTI President Caron Hopfner said. "Our partnership with SaskPower has been a cornerstone in the foundation for our growth and market expansion."

PTI is a Regina-based company that has repaired transformers for SaskPower since it began operations in 1989, and has supplied new transformers to the corporation since 1991. SaskPower mostly purchases single phase padmount transformers, as well as three-phase polemounted and padmounted transformers, for use in the SaskPower distribution system. PTI is currently supplying SaskPower with transformers as part of a five-year contract that will expire at the end of 2006. PTI received a Power of Business Award from SaskPower in April 1999 to acknowledge this long-standing supplier relationship.

PTI has annual sales of over $12 million, and more than 70 employees. They have been registered to ISO 9002 Quality Assurance since 1996; in February of 2004, PTI was certified to ISO 9001:2000. They currently construct transformers for companies and utilities across Canada, the USA, the Caribbean, South America, Russia and Africa.
