Saskatchewan's provincial parks officially open services for the summer season on the May long weekend. Saskatchewan's provincial parks are open year round, however most summer vacation services begin the Victoria Day long weekend.Saskatchewan has 34 provincial parks that offer a unique taste of Saskatchewan. Each park showcases specific natural or historic features and offers a range of recreational and educational opportunities. Each year, more than 2.3 million people visit Saskatchewan's provincial parks.
"A park visit is a great way to enjoy our wealth of natural and cultural resources," Environment Minister David Forbes said. "This year, visitors will also find improved and more comfortable facilities."
Several parks have new program centres to help provide interpretation and education to park visitors. There are also more electrified campsites and full-service campsites designed to accommodate RVs, new interpretive trails, as well as many other new or renovated facilities.
June 23rd and August 11th are "Free Park'n Wednesdays". Entry fees will be waived for the day, providing a great opportunity to visit a provincial park.
The parks program is again offering the "Park Pack", a unique gift giving idea that offers a camping package at a discount. It includes a three-day entry permit and two nights camping, along with value-added coupons from several partners. It sells for $44 and is valued at over $60. Check the Saskatchewan Parks website under "Special Promotions" for this and other discount offers.
Due to normal spring weather conditions, water systems in some parks are just thawing out and routine flushing and checking systems will be taking place. To find out the status of the water system in any of Saskatchewan's parks, call the park directly or check the Parks website.
