Making Saskatchewan Ready for the Next Generation is the theme of the 2004 Throne Speech, and the highest priority of the Lorne Calvert government, as Saskatchewan heads into its second century."We are going to be active in introducing new strategies, programs and legislation that will make Saskatchewan ready for the next generation, Premier Lorne Calvert said.
"My vision of Saskatchewan is that this is a great place and can be made even better, and more youth-friendly, to ensure our young people have the future they want in their own province.
"As our government said when we sought a mandate last November, we believe that making our province ready for the next century means building a green and prosperous economy that includes a new role for our Crown utilities and investments," Calvert said. "It means building a quality of life that includes health care for all generations, to support healthy families, neighbourhoods and communities."
"This Legislature will guide us into Saskatchewan's second century. As we look to the future, our government recognizes many challenges that confront us today. Working with our citizens, our government intends to take on these challenges and make this province ready for tomorrow. The changes necessary to take us into the future must begin now," Calvert concluded.
Among the initiatives directed to youth in the Throne Speech, read by her Honour Lieutenant-Governor Lynda Haverstock, are a Career Start Program to prepare youth for career opportunities here in Saskatchewan and connect youth to jobs; enhancing the Post-Secondary Graduate Tax Credit program and a new Youth Entrepreneur Program.

More information will be provided when the provincial budget is handed down March 31st.
