SESSION BEGINS MARCH 18TH

Released on March 9, 2004

Premier Calvert announced that the opening session of the 25th Legislature will begin with the Speech from the Throne on Thursday March 18th.

"We will begin delivering on the mandate of 2003 with the first Throne Speech of the new government," Calvert said. "Our budget and legislation over the term of our government will focus on four priorities:

· Making Saskatchewan the first choice for young people as they begin their future;

· Building a green and prosperous economy;

· Focusing our Crown Corporations on service first to Saskatchewan families, businesses and communities; and

· Strengthening public health care to build healthy lives, healthy families, and healthy neighborhoods and communities.

"Saskatchewan people have voiced their desire to see Saskatchewan grow and change," Calvert said. "My government will work to create opportunities for all of our residents, so that our province may grow economically and socially."

The Throne Speech sets the broad policy priorities of the government.
