SGI PRESIDENT NAMED

Released on June 9, 2004

Premier Lorne Calvert announced today the appointment of Jon Schubert as SGI President, effective July 1st, 2004.

"Mr. Schubert is widely recognized as an industry expert and worked for many years at SGI," Calvert said. "He will be a welcome addition as President and we can expect that SGI will continue to provide quality service at among the best rates in the country under his guidance and leadership."

Mr. Schubert has lived most of his life in Saskatchewan and spent 23 years working at SGI until 1999. Since that time, Mr. Schubert assisted the New Brunswick Legislature Select Committee on Public Auto Insurance to recommend a new model for that province and worked with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia on a new premium structure. For the past year, Mr. Schubert served as Acting General Manager of Coachman Insurance, leading the financial turnaround in SGI CANADA's Ontario subsidiary.

Headed by Nancy Hopkins, Chair of SGI's Board of Directors, a CEO search committee made up of three additional SGI Board members and CIC President and CEO Tom Waller, spent several months working to find the most qualified candidate.

"Mr. Schubert brings a wealth of experience to the position," Hopkins said. "His time with SGI means a strong understanding of the Crown corporation's competitive and compulsory operations. His time away from the company over the last five years means he brings new ideas and outside experiences that we can incorporate into current operations to better serve our customers."
