TWO CASES BEING INVESTIGATED

Released on December 21, 2004

Currently the RCMP are investigating cases of financial irregularities in two government departments.

The two unrelated cases were recently discovered in the Department of Environment and in the Department of Community Resources and Employment. As related to the specific incidents, an employee in each department is currently suspended with pay.

The Provincial Comptroller will work with the two departments to ensure that proper procedures are in place. The Provincial Auditor has also been notified.

Details of the specific cases will not be released while the matter is under RCMP investigation. Government will fully co-operate with the investigation.
