Rocanville area residents will soon have a new fire hall thanks to the province's Centenary Fund.
The province contributed $95,000 toward the cost of the $240,000 fire hall. The 4,500 square foot facility is large enough to house three fire trucks and an emergency response vehicle as well as training and meeting rooms. The Rocanville Volunteer Fire Department serves residents of Rocanville and the surrounding area.
"This new fire hall is an excellent example of the diverse ways that Saskatchewan people are partnering with government to build on the excellent quality of life in Saskatchewan," Government Relations Minister Ron Osika said. "The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to support this project which will enhance the safety and well-being of the people of Rocanville."
"The Rocanville Council is pleased to have participated with our partners, the government of Saskatchewan and the RM of Rocanville in the construction this facility," Rocanville Mayor Daryl Fingas said. "The new fire hall will add to Rocanville's excellent quality of life."
The Centenary Fund was set up to leave a legacy of Saskatchewan's Centennial for future generations. Leading up to the centennial celebrations in 2005, the government is funding projects that are of provincial or regional interest and develop municipal infrastructure.
