Francophone students in Saskatoon have much to celebrate with today's announcement of approximately $4 million in capital funding for a new Francophone high school at the École canadienne-française de Saskatoon."The Francophone community in Saskatoon is vibrant and growing. With the construction of an addition for high school students and some modifications to the existing structure, the future École canadienne-française de Saskatoon will have the capacity for over 400 students," Learning Minister Judy Junor said. "The high school will include space for general instruction, practical and applied arts, visual and performing arts, distance education, counselling rooms, administration area and a gymnasium with gym service area."
After the high school students are relocated to the new facility, the existing structure will be renovated to better accommodate the remaining elementary school students.
"Our government is committed to ensuring all Saskatchewan students have a modern and well-equipped learning environment," Junor said. "By investing in the education of our young people we are investing in Saskatchewan's wide open future."
"With this announcement Saskatchewan Learning has given francophone education in this province another opportunity to continue to grow and develop," Conseil scolaire fransaskois President Paul Hounjet said.
