Loon Lake area residents now have a new fire hall thanks to the province's Centenary Fund.The province contributed $40,000 toward the cost of the $80,000 fire hall. The 2,640 square foot facility is large enough to house three emergency vehicles as well as training and meeting rooms. The Loon Lake Volunteer Fire Department serves residents of Loon Lake and the surrounding area.
"This new fire hall is an excellent example of the diverse ways that Saskatchewan people are partnering with government to build on the excellent quality of life in Saskatchewan," Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag said on behalf of Government Relations Minister Ron Osika. "The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to support this project which will enhance the safety and well-being of the people of Loon Lake."
"The Village of Loon Lake and the RM of Loon Lake are pleased to have now completed the new fire hall, which will more adequately serve the needs of the Loon Lake area residents," Mayor Dan Ross said. "This project was only possible with the help of the Centenary Fund."
The Centenary Fund was set up to leave a legacy of Saskatchewan's Centennial for future generations. Leading up to the centennial celebrations in 2005, the government is funding projects that are of provincial or regional benefit and develop municipal infrastructure.
