Francophone students in Moose Jaw have much to celebrate with today's announcement of the capital funding for a new Francophone education facility in Moose Jaw."The new facility will accommodate up to 105 students from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12," Labour Minister and Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Deb Higgins said on behalf of Learning Minister Judy Junor. "To meet the needs of the Francophone students in the community, the facility will also include a childcare centre and space for Francophone cultural activities."
Saskatchewan Learning and the Francophone School Division are currently defining the cost estimate and assessing site options, including the former Alexandra School as the possible location for the new facility.
"Our government is committed to ensuring all Saskatchewan students have a modern and well-equipped learning environment," Higgins said. "By investing in the education of our young people we are investing in the future of Saskatchewan."
"The Conseil scolaire fransaskois is pleased with the Government's announcement and hopes the facilities will meet the needs and expectations of the Francophone community in Moose Jaw. This is a promising gesture for the Francophone community as a whole," President of the Conseil scolaire fransaskois Paul Hounjet said.
