Team Saskatchewan members will be in Montreal September 8-12 for North America's premier aviation industry conference with a mission to attract new investment from a wide variety of aerospace engineering communities.The team, including Industry and Resources Minister Eric Cline, will speak to key manufacturers, suppliers and professionals at the 2003 Aerospace Congress and Exhibition (ACE) about the benefits of building partnerships with Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan has the ability to supply manufacturing services to larger aerospace manufacturing companies, including the eventual supplier of the federal government's 28 new maritime helicopters.
"Saskatchewan offers a wealth of talent and innovation through its high-tech companies, research and development, and higher education," Cline said. "In terms of world-class business and manufacturing practices and technologies, this is an ideal location for aerospace enterprises."
In his meetings with industry, Minister Cline will highlight the NATO Flight Training in Canada program; the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron for developing stronger, lighter materials; and the Center for Microgravity Research and Education, which has the longest drop shaft in the world.
Created as a key element of the Our Future is Wide Open campaign, Team Saskatchewan is a new force of public and private sector leaders assembled to undertake economic development missions outside the province. Its membership is flexible to accommodate a variety of targeted sectors.
"The aerospace sector in Saskatchewan is a small growing sector and we need to meet with other companies and organizations in the industry," team participant, David Loken, Executive Director of Saskatchewan Aerospace Inc. said. "We need to show the world what we have to offer and what the advantages are of doing business in Saskatchewan."
Team Saskatchewan is scheduled to meet with organizations and companies such as The Canadian Space Agency, Team Cormorant, Bombardier, and NATO Helicopters Inc. Representing the Aerospace industry and Saskatchewan business community:
