Students who attend Regina's Campbell Collegiate can rest assured they will receive their education on a sound foundation. The Government of Saskatchewan today announced approximately $1.8 million for the final phase of a foundation repair project at Campbell Collegiate."School capital projects are a priority for this government and the project at Campbell is part of our long-term provincial wide strategy," Learning Minister Judy Junor said. "We are committed to ensuring all Saskatchewan students have a modern, well-equipped learning environment."
Built in 1968, Campbell Collegiate has been gradually sinking into Regina's clay-based soil. The first phase of the project provided funding for a study that recommended remedial work be done. The project is scheduled to be completed in approximately one year.
"Campbell Collegiate has served students very well since it opened its doors in the sixties," Junor said. "Nonetheless, the infrastructure at Campbell Collegiate had a significant need for investment and the Government of Saskatchewan has responded. Students, teachers and parents will be pleased to know that Campbell Collegiate will continue to serve their community for many years to come."
"We are pleased to be upgrading our facilities and appreciate the support of Saskatchewan Learning," Regina Public Board of Education Chair Cathy Hill said.
"Above all else, our government is focused on meeting the learning needs of all young people in the province," Junor said. "Investment in education is key to a wide open future for our children and our province."
