COMMUNITY OF BUFFALO NARROWS WILL BE GETTING NEW RECREATION SITE

Released on October 7, 2003

Big Buffalo Beach Recreation Site, which is 3650 hectares in size, will be transferred to the community of Buffalo Narrows. The community has changed the name to Buffalo Narrows Sand Dunes Park.

"The Recreation Site that we are in the process of transferring to Buffalo Narrows was at the request of the local people," Environment Minister Buckley Belanger said. "The community will be assuming all operational and development costs associated with the recreation site, and will continue to ensure its use as a recreation area."

The new name, Buffalo Narrows Sand Dunes Park, was selected through a contest with school children in the community.
