The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $490,000 on improvements to four schools in Saskatoon and the surrounding area."We are investing in schools, in students and in the future of Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Judy Junor said. "As part of our long-term K-12 capital strategy that allows appropriate lead time for school divisions to plan, these 2004-05 projects demonstrate our continued commitment to work with school divisions to provide quality education for our students."
The funding allocated will be used to replace roofs at these schools. These projects will be cost-shared with school divisions.
• The Saskatoon East School Division will receive $62,000 for the Hanley Composite High School.
• Saskatoon West School Division will receive $98,000 for Dalmeny's Prairie View School.
• Saskatoon School Division will receive $217,000 for Mount Royal Collegiate.
• St. Paul's Roman Catholic School Division will receive $110,000 for Holy Cross High School.
These projects are part of the provincial government's investment of $4.2 million to improve the learning environment in 34 Saskatchewan schools. With these projects, the total commitment by government to K-12 capital projects announced so far this fall is over $30 million.
"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment to invest in modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan students," Junor said. "Investing in education enriches our communities and ensures a wide open future for Saskatchewan students."
