SUPPORT FOR COSMOPOLITAN LEARNING CENTRE IN REGINA

Released on October 2, 2003

Cosmopolitan Learning Centre Inc. of Regina today received a $106,240 boost from the provincial government, for a total of $177,260 this year, to add program staff and enhance support for 11 individuals with disabilities.

The new funding will enable the organization to plan, develop, and deliver needs-based services. With this additional funding, Cosmopolitan Learning Centre Inc. will now provide services to 200 individuals.

"The province is pleased to support individuals with disabilities as they develop work and living skills while working in the community," Regina Dewdney MLA Kevin Yates said, on behalf of Community Resources and Employment Minister Glenn Hagel. "This initiative demonstrates the provincial government's commitment to full citizenship and participation for people with disabilities."

"We thank the provincial government for their support of people with disabilities," Cosmopolitan Learning Centre Chairperson Joe Kazeil said. "Their support enables us to provide responsive community-based vocational services for individuals right here in our own community."

Cosmopolitan Learning Centre Inc. is a community-based organization that provides recreational, social and vocational services for individuals with intellectual, physical, and behavioural challenges in Regina and area. It is located at 810 Edgar Street.

The government's support for this initiative is consistent with its vision that all Saskatchewan people have opportunities to contribute to and be included in the economic and social life of the province.
