CARLTON TRAIL REGIONAL COLLEGE RELOCATES TO PUNNICHY

Released on May 22, 2003

Construction will start soon on a 200 square metre addition to Punnichy High School that will allow Carlton Trail Regional College to move its Lestock operations to the new Punnichy location. Saskatchewan Learning recently approved the $275,000 expansion project that will ensure the college maintains a strong presence in the area.

"I am delighted to announce this project that will address the college's need for updated facilities in the Punnichy area," Learning Minister Judy Junor said. "Joint use facilities like this allow us to become more efficient in fulfilling expanding education and training needs in Saskatchewan."

The move became necessary when indoor air quality problems were identified in their Lestock location. Repairs were made to correct the problems, but a new location was necessary for the long-term sustainability of programming.

The facility will continue to offer Adult 12 and Basic Education programs after the scheduled opening in December 2003.

"This project is part of the Government's ongoing commitment to invest in modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan students," Junor said. "Investing in education enriches our communities and guarantees a wide open future for Saskatchewan."
