PREMIER'S AWARD NOMINATIONS OPEN

Released on March 11, 2003

Saskatchewan residents have until April 30 to nominate deserving government employees for the Premier's Award for Excellence in the Public Service.

The award recognizes and honours outstanding on-the-job performance by Saskatchewan public servants. It offers public recognition for individuals who exemplify what government values most in its employees: quality service, innovation and leadership.

"We are proud of our public servants and the exceptional work they do," Premier Lorne Calvert said. "These are talented, dedicated people who provide important services to Saskatchewan residents and I encourage everyone to consider nominating someone deserving of this award."

Employees of government departments, most Treasury Board Crown corporations, boards, commissions and agencies are eligible for nomination. Employees may also be nominated as members of a team. This award is part of a larger recognition program recently implemented in the Saskatchewan public service.

"The Premier's Award for Excellence gives everyone in Saskatchewan the perfect opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate and take pride in the achievements of our province and people," Provincial Secretary and Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission Joanne Crofford said.

People can call toll-free 1-877-425-5505 for more information. Nomination forms are available from the Government Relations and Aboriginal Affairs website at: www.graa.gov.sk.ca/protocol/html/Honours/Premiers_Award.htm.
