SASKWATER PARTNERS WITH MOOSE JAW COMMUNITY SCHOOL

SaskWater is partnering with Prince Arthur Community School in Moose Jaw to provide guided reading books, specialized software and learning aids for about 285 pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 students.

"Partnerships between schools and Crown corporations have become an important part of the value that Crown corporations bring to the province. This partnership provides some additional funds for Prince Arthur Community School and gives SaskWater another opportunity to be more closely integrated with the community, " Minister Responsible for SaskWater Ron Osika said. Labour Minister Deb Higgins was at the school to announce the partnership and said, "Partnering with SaskWater will provide the school with important additional reading resources and tools to enable students to build sight and word vocabulary skills throughout the year and for their future."

Prince Arthur Community School will use the $10,000 partnership funding for enriched content Leveled Reading Sets, Earobics computer software, new books for the school library, award items to recognize individual student achievement, student agendas and for the school's swimming program.

"Having SaskWater partner with the school to provide foundational learning tools for students in this community is a valuable step toward building on our community's quality of life," Prince Arthur's Principal Wayne Wolsfeld said. "We are grateful for this contribution which allows us to reach every student in our school with learning aids that may otherwise not be available to them. These learning tools will help to increase their capacity for academic and life success."

Community Schools function as the focal point of activity for their local communities.
