Saskatchewan students and communities are the major beneficiaries of upgrades to schools throughout Saskatchewan this year. The provincial government is investing $36 million to upgrade K-12 school facilities for the 2003-04 fiscal year."We are investing in schools, in students, and in the future of Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Judy Junor said.
The projects announced today include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, mechanical system upgrades, renovations, additions and relocatable classrooms.
"With the $36 million in the Saskatchewan Learning K-12 capital budget, which includes $4.6 million from the Centenary Fund, approximately 140 K-12 school construction, renovation or upgrading projects will be funded in communities around the province this year," Junor said.
Additional projects in other school divisions throughout the province will be announced over the remainder of the fiscal year to March 31st, 2004.
"Today's announcement is a sign that we are committed to investing in improved learning environments for Saskatchewan students. Investing in education enriches our communities and ensures a wide open future for Saskatchewan students," Junor said.
