CAPITAL INVESTMENT FOR YORKTON HEALTH CARE

Released on July 21, 2003

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing more than $420,000 in upgrades to health care facilities in Yorkton.

The investment will help pay for a roof replacement and other capital upgrades to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home and a roof replacement for the emergency department of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, ensuring the facilities continue to operate at the highest level of safety and efficiency.

"As directed in our Action Plan for Saskatchewan Health Care the support ensures the maintenance of high quality, accessible health care facilities for both patients and staff," Health Minister John Nilson said. "At the same time the people of Yorkton and surrounding area are assured a sound health care infrastructure in future years."

These investments support the Sunrise Health Region with its ongoing capital planning.

"The goal of the Sunrise Health Region is to improve the health and well being of individuals and communities through leadership, collaboration and the provision of high-quality health services. This investment helps us achieve that goal," Sunrise Health Region Chairperson Ben Weber said. "Keeping our facilities strong is a key part of our commitment to the delivery of health care services."

Over the next two years the Government of Saskatchewan is investing $61 million for new and upgraded health care facilities to increase access and better deliver future health care services.
