INVESTMENT IN BATTLEFORDS HEALTH FACILITIES

Released on July 14, 2003

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing more than $458,000 in upgrades to health care facilities in The Battlefords.

Nearly $192,000 from the province will help pay for capital improvements to the emergency, lab, x-ray, administration and dietary facilities at Battlefords Union Hospital. A further $266,500 in capital project funding will also ensure the Battlefords Union Hospital and the Villa Pascal long-term care facility continue to operate at the highest level of safety and efficiency.

"As part of our government's commitment in The Action Plan for Saskatchewan Health Care we continue to invest in capital projects like these to ensure our health infrastructure remains strong," Health Minister John Nilson said.

These investments support the Prairie North Health Region with its ongoing capital planning.

"Our region has a vision of healthy people in healthy communities and this announcement works toward fulfilling that vision," Prairie North Regional Health Authority Chair Bonnie O'Grady said. "These investments help ensure our facilities remain strong as part of our commitment to deliver high-quality health care services."

Over the next two years the Government of Saskatchewan is investing $61 million for new and upgraded health care facilities to increase access and better deliver future health care services.
