CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM PREMIER LORNE CALVERT

Released on December 17, 2003

Across Saskatchewan this Christmas and holiday season our churches and schools will host their annual Christmas concerts, children will wait with anticipation, friends, neighbours, co-workers and communities will celebrate together and families will gather.

Across Saskatchewan this holiday season Saskatchewan people will reach out, as Saskatchewan people do year round, with gifts and caring for our neighbours in need.

Across Saskatchewan we will again pause to give thanks for the beauty of the season, the stars in a winter sky, the province we call home and the peace and bounty of our land.

And when the carols of Christmas fade, across Saskatchewan we will look forward to a brand new year. The final year of our province's first century. We can look forward to that new year with much hope and optimism for our province and our people.

2000 years ago a young man and woman knew the kindness of a stranger who welcomed them to a warm stable. May you and yours know the gifts of kindness and love this Christmas and in this and every season may ours be a province where we extend to each other, and even to the stranger, those same gifts of kindness, hospitality and love.

My wife Betty and I extend to you our warmest Christmas greetings and best wishes for the New Year.
